My name is Frank G. Sorbero Jr.

I grew up and have lived in Amsterdam all my life. I have been enjoying the outdoors since the mid-seventies hiking, backpacking, winter camping, x-c skiing, hunting, fishing, and camping.

My first experiences with hiking were doing short trips in the Hope area. I became interested in the high peaks when a co-worker wanted to climb Marcy.  I researched it by buying a guidebook and map and climbed Marcy as my first high peak. I am an Adirondack 46er and a Winter 46er.

I joined ADK in 1981 and have lead various trips in all seasons from short summer hikes to winter camp outs. I was first introduced to the White Mountains of New Hampshire on an AMC trip in 1983.  I have returned to the Whites on numerous occasions since then using the hut system. In June 2000, I led the Y2K White Mountains Hut to Hut Traverse from Franconia to Randolph for the ADK Outings Committee. I do not hike in the heat of summer but prefer flat-water canoeing and biking. I also love fishing and hunting. In winter I mainly cross-country ski and snowshoe. I enjoy revisiting my favorite trails and ski trips. One of my most memorable hikes was in the Sewards that ended up being an unplanned 23-hour march on the trail - quite the story!

My involvement in ADK consists of serving as Schenectady Chapter chairman, member of JBL committee, and chairman of the JBL winter host program. My leadership skills were built and streamlined from my love for the outdoors and the mountains.
