D.J. Kitzel's love for the outdoors started as a boy in the woods and on the waters of his native Irondequoit. While completing a B.A. in English Literature at St. Bonaventure University, he spent many afternoons and weekends exploring the Allegany River and surrounding hill country. Since then his outdoor experiences have led him to a season in Yellowstone Park, a dude ranch in Wyoming, trail work for the Appalachian Mountain Club, a thru-hike of the A.T., and a homestead outside Naples, N.Y. D.J. Kitzel has been leading trips for Pack, Paddle, Ski Corp. for fourteen years. He currently holds a Masters Degree with a focus on adolescent development and teaches at the Marcus Whitman ECO program located at the Cumming Nature Center. He grew up in a large Irish-American family with a love of Irish music. He completed course work in Irish history and realized a life-long dream when guiding his first trip there in 2000. This will be his third trip guiding in the West of Ireland and he guarantees a unique, down-home Irish experience along with his Irish co-leader, Jackie King. D.J. |
