My love of
the outdoors started early, partly through my experiences
in Girl Scouts and partly through the many camping trips I took as a
child
with my family. After several years raising children and working
as a registered nurse I happened upon the Adirondack Mountain Club
through
some local hikes and renewed my love affair with the outdoors.
Over
the past few years I have done quite a bit of hiking, canoeing, and
backpacking
including two wonderful trips to the Sierras and have discovered the
wonders
of winter - on cross country skis and snow shoes. Organization is one of my major strengths that have led to my present position as Chair of the Genesee Valley Chapter of ADK. I also enjoy meeting and working with people in a variety of settings. I have led outings locally for my Chapter and last year, when it became apparent that the past leader of the Val David trip would not be available in 2004, I offered to lead the trip. Of the various activities I enjoy, cross-country skiing has become my absolute favorite and our journey to Quebec in 2003 was the best. If you enjoy good skiing and good company I encourage you to join us--you'll be glad you did! Mollie |
