![]() I guess it all started when I was born. I grew up on Long island where I married, had four children and still live. For a while I was a professional student. Over a period of 15 years, while maintaining a household and working full time, I studied for a BA in Sociology, an AAS in Nursing, and an MSW. I also enjoy music and the opera and take advantage of the many cultural opportunities NYC has to offer. I have always enjoyed travel and the outdoors. I am a 46er and I have climbed the Catskill peaks summer and winter. In fact I have completed the Northeast 111. I finally finished my section hike of the Appalachian Trail in 2001, have my Long Path patch and am four days short of finishing the Long Trail. In January of 2003 I summited Mt Kilimanjaro. Since then I have hiked in New Zealand and Japan, as well as locally. I joined the ADK in 1974 and have led hikes and weekend trips for the Long Island Chapter. My career as an ADK Trip Leader began after I led 3 friends on The Tour of Mont Blanc. I thought this was such a splendid trip that I wanted to share it with more people so I asked permission to run the same trip for the club. Since then I have led England-Coast to Coast, An Italian Sampler- the Dolomites and Lake Garda, Madeira and the Azores, a Week in Provence, and El Camino de Santiago. For 2006 I am planning to lead Hiking the Corfu Trail. My husband Herbert Coles and I have both led Maho Bay- Luxury Camping for the past 5 years. June |
