Hike the Old Erie
Canal July 13-19, 2008 $690 Dick Lightcap, Trip Leader The Erie Canal State
Historic Park extends 36 miles from DeWitt (near Syracuse) to Rome, NY.
Along this section of the 1862 enlargement of the original canal, you
will find such remnants of the past as aqueducts, feeder canals,
bridges, culverts and dry docks.
We will hike on sections of the towpath every day, ending at a museum or other place of interest. Almost all of the hiking is level and easy and doesn’t exceed 5 miles at one time. It will be moderately paced. However, sun should be expected on some stretches of the towpath. TRIP NOW FULL -
