In the far northwest of India, lies the “Land of the Maharajas (Kings)"
- Rajasthan. Rajasthan is the largest state in the country and is
known throughout the world for its magnificent palaces, forts, temples,
mosques and tombs. This legacy is derived from the feudal warlords –
the Rajputs. Many of the Rajput’s savage battles were fought
against the Muslim invaders, who eventually, under the direction of
Akbar, decided that cooperation, not subjugation was the only way to
proceed. Consequently fighting diminished after 1556, and resources
were used to display wealth, huge and luxurious palaces, decorated with
intricate carpets, silks, jewels and murals.
This trip will take you through inspiring scenery, and some of the best
temples, palaces and forts in the world including one of the wonders of
the world – Taj Mahal. We will visit National parks and
preserves, and enjoy the unique experience of dining with Indian
families as their guests.
Participate in a Unique, Unforgettable, Small Group Setting. We
will see and learn about all facets of India –
- Taj Mahal - one of
the first and continuous wonders of the world,
- Modern developing
nation where multinational corporations have offices.
- New Delhi - the
capital of India with its wide streets, and government buildings built
under the British regime.
- Muslim cultures
depicted by their Mosques, gardens, forts and tombs.
- Indian culture
through palaces, and temples, walks through villages, farms and
markets. Cooking demonstration and meals in Indian homes.
- Experience wildlife
with jeep/canters and walks in national parks and preserves.
Walks and hikes will
be of easy to moderate with minimal elevation gain.
