The Enchanted
Mountains: A spectacular Pyrenean mountain range with numerous high
lakes and memorable mountains. Our trip is a famous mountain circuit
called the Chariots of Fire (Carros de Foc).
We will spend nine days in a circuit of the range going over high
mountain cols and doing easy walk-up peaks. Because it will be early
summer with snow on the high passes, we will carry crampons and ice
axes. The trip is scheduled for June to avoid the crowds and to
appreciate the snow. We will carry light day packs because all our
meals will be provided by the refuges where we will spend the nights.
Level of difficulty:
You will need to feel comfortable on moderate snow slopes with crampons
and an ice axe. Although the distances are not great, the terrain can
be rough and steep. We all will do a basic minimum which is the 37 mile
tour of the massif, the Chariots of Fire but there will be ample
opportunity to do more. We will do side trips along the way and climb
some easy non-technical peaks too. Getting to the Enchanted Mountains
requires going through one of the great cities of the world, Barcelona.
Spending a day or two there is highly recommended.

the trailhead

will send you a map of our trip.
Not Included:
- Lunch and trail food
on the first day of hiking. You can bring a lunch or buy it in the
refuge on that day.
- Extra beverages,
snacks or meals.
- We will have stoves
for hot drinks on the trail but each participant should bring the
coffee, tea or instant soups which they prefer.

STEADY 3 YEAR DECLINE AGAINST THE EURO.
