DAY 1, Sunday, August 9, 2009:
Arrive Kalispell airport--Transport to GPFC by Glacier Institute
Welcome dinner by Glacier Institute (included in trip cost)
Lodging at GPFC cabins

DAY 2, Monday, August 10, 2009
Program: Flora and Fauna of the McDonald Valley
Hike: Trail of the Cedars and Trail to Avalanche Lake (4-5 miles, about 800 feet elevation change)
Transportation to and from trailhead by Glacier Institute
All meals by Glacier Institute
Lodging: GPFC cabins
Evening program by Glacier Institute


DAY 3, Tuesday, August 11, 2009:
Program: Wildlife Discoveries of Lewis and Clark
Hike: Scenic Point Trail (7 miles, 2,000 feet elevation gain and loss, long drive to trailhead, but gorgeous views on the way and on the trail), or Firebrand Pass Trail (closer)
Transport and meals by Glacier Institute
Lodging: GPFC cabins


DAY 4, Wednesday, August 12, 2009:
Program: Glacier’s Wildflowers
Hike: Highline Trail (from Logan Pass, along the Continental Divide, approximately 8 miles, 850 ft. elevation change)
Transportation and meals by Glacier Institute
Lodging: GPFC cabins

DAY 5, Thursday, August 13, 2009:
Travel day- Going-to-the-Sun Road to Many Glacier (about 3 hours with stops, approx. 70 miles). We will have a leisurely morning with a chance to shop in West Glacier, if desired. We should arrive in Many Glacier by mid afternoon, with time left to explore the Many Glacier area. 
Transport by Glacier Institute
Breakfast and lunch by Glacier Institute, dinner on our own
Lodging: Swiftcurrent Motor Inn cabins


DAY 6, Friday, August 14, 2009:
Program: Many Glacier Geology
Hike: to Grinnell Glacier (11 miles, approx. 1,000 feet elevation change. Trailhead is within walking distance of cabins)
Meals: all meals are on own
Lodging: Swiftcurrent Motor Inn cabins
 

DAY 7, Satuday, August 15, 2009:
Program: History of Glacier
Hike: to Iceberg Lake (9 miles, 1200 feet elevation change, trailhead is within walking distance of cabins)
Meals: breakfast and lunch on own, dinner by Glacier Institute
Transport back to GPFC by Glacier Institute
Lodging: GPFC cabins


DAY 8, Sunday, August 16, 2009:
Program: River Ecology by Raft on the Flathead River (AM)
Afternoon is free for short hike in area, swimming, etc.
Meals: breakfast and lunch by Glacier Institute
Farewell dinner at Lake McDonald Lodge (included in trip price)
Lodging: GPFC cabins


DAY 9, Monday, August 17, 2009:
Breakfast by Glacier Institute
Return to Kalispell airport, transport by Glacier Institute
