Itinerary

DAY 0, Sunday, April 6, 2008:
Depart USA - cross dateline and arrive Calcutta/Kolcutta (CCU airport) following day.

DAY 1, Monday, April 7, 2008- Arrive Calcutta/Kolkatta (Calcutta, CCU airport):
You will be met and assisted upon arrival at International Airport in Calcutta/Kolcutta and transferred to the hotel. Check in is available any time after noon. There will be free time to catch up on sleep, adjust to time change, or sight see on your own.
Hotel-- The Park, Deluxe Room   

DAY 2, Tuesday, April 8, 2008- Calcutta – Bagdogra – Darjeeling (3.5 HOURS APPROX):
There will be an ADK and outfitter trip orientation meeting over breakfast. After buffet breakfast at the hotel, connect flight for Bagdogra 9W 617 (1210/1310). Lunch will be provided at the airport. We will have assistance on arrival at Bagdogra and drive to Darjeeling.
Dinner and overnight at hotel Windamere, our home for two nights - Standard Room.

DAY 3, Wednesday, April 9, 2008 - Darjeeling (7,001 ft.):
Early morning drive to Tiger Hill to view sunrise and Himalayan Range like Kanchandzonga and visit Ghoom Monastery, the oldest monastery in the area. We will also visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Himalayan Zoological Park, Tibetan Refugee Centre & Tenzing and Gombu rock for practice climb. After buffet lunch at the hotel, we will visit the Happy Valley Tea Estate.
Buffet dinner and overnight at hotel Windamere - Standard Room.

DAY 4, Thursday, April 10, 2008-- Darjeeling – Maneybhanjang – Tonglu:
Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Maneybhanjang (7000’). This is the starting point of the trek. Maneybhanjang is 16 miles from Darjeeling and situated on the border between India and Nepal. Enroute lunch.
Begin trek to Tonglu (10072’) which is steep and on a zigzag trail. The trek from Manebhanjang to Tonglu covering 6.8 miles, (elevation gain 3,072’- about 6 hrs) is steep up. Tonglu faces Darjeeling and Kurseong and commands excellent view of Mt. Kanchenjunga.

DAY 5, Friday, April 11, 2008-- Tonglu – Gairibas – Sandakphu:
After breakfast trek to Gairibas which is downhill and then gradually starts uphill towards Sandakphu (12000’) and the last part of the trek is very steep. Once on top you will enjoy the magnificent views of the highest peaks of the world like Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Lotse and other peaks of Sikkim and Nepal Himalayas. Enroute lunch. (5.6 miles/1,460ft./3,317 ft. elevation loss/gain (6 hours)
Dinner and overnight in tents.

DAY 6, Saturday, April 12, 2008-- Sandakphu – Phalut:
Early morning view the most spectacular sun rise as the first rays hit the Himalayan range. After breakfast begin trek to Phalut (11811’). This trek is about 13 miles and hiking time will be about 8 hours. The terrain goes gradual with ups and downs on the ridge of Singalila with a picturesque view of Everest and Kanchanjunga.  Enroute lunch. (13 miles, elevation gain/loss 500 ft (8 hours approx)
Dinner and overnight in tents.

DAY 7, Sunday, April 13, 2008-- Phalut – Molle:
After Breakfast continue on the same terrain to Sabargram and about a kilometer further down a diversion leads to the camp site of Molle. (Elevation gain/loss 500 ft.)

DAY 8, Monday, April 14, 2008-- Molle – Raman:
After breakfast bid good-bye to the mountains of Molle and trek through the forest of Rhododendrons and Magnolias. (Elevation loss 3,200 ft.)

Overnight in tents.

DAY 9, Tuesday, April 15, 2008-- Raman – Rimbik:
After breakfast begin last day of trek to Rimbik visiting Siri Khola and Farmland and then uphill through the forest to Rimbik.  (11.8 miles, elevation loss/gain 900 ft., 8 hrs).  Enroute lunch.
Dinner and overnight at Trekkers Hut/Hotel.

DAY 10, Wednesday, April 16, 2008--   Rimbik – Kurseong (46 miles/6 hours approx.):
After breakfast drive to Kurseong and transfer to hotel. 
Lunch at the hotel
Afternoon yoga session to unwind.
Dinner and overnight at hotel

DAY 11, Thursday, April 17, 2008-- Kurseong – Bagdogra (37 miles/2.5 HOURS APPROX.) - Calcutta:
Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Bagdogra in time to connect your flight for Calcutta/Kolcutta 9W 618 (1345/1445).
Lunch will be provided at the Bagdora Airport. 
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel The Park - Deluxe Room. Buffet dinner at the hotel

DAY 12, Friday, April 18, 2008—Calcutta/Kolcutta:
After buffet breakfast at the hotel, you will proceed for a full day city tour of the Victoria Memorial, the Indian Museum, temples, the Botanical Gardens, and the Marble Palace. You will also visit Mother Teresa’s Orphanage and Medical Center.
Buffet lunch at the hotel.
After buffet dinner at the local restaurant, a Cox & Kings representative will transfer you to the international airport in time to connect your flight home back.
Depart Calcutta/Kolcutta by International Flight. Most international flights depart late at night or early morning. Flights departing early morning arrive in the USA the same day, crossing the International Date Line.
