BE PUT ON A WAITING LIST.
We will be day hiking
in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which is the largest
national park in the east and the most popular in the nation, as well
as Pisgah National Forest and the Nantahala National Forest.
Destinations include three mountain peaks that are not too strenuous,
museums, scenic views and several waterfalls. I have tried to select
the best and most typical venues as a sampling of this region.
You
must be in good physical condition and be able to hike at least ten
miles a day comfortably over varied terrain and do some moderate
climbing.
We
will be staying at a hostel in Asheville, North Carolina, where
everyone will prepare his/her own meals. There is a store nearby to
purchase our food. I will be driving a leased mini-van for our daily
excursions.
