TENTATIVE ITINERARY

On any given day the itinerary may change slightly due to weather (wind, rain), water/trail conditions or group strength.

DAY 1- 5/15/07
Travel, rendezvous with group and orientation. Fly into Billings, MT airport and take free shuttle to the Holiday Inn (make own reservations). Meet the ADK group for dinner (on own) followed by a brief orientation meeting @ 7:00PM.

DAY 2- 5/16/07
Wilderness Inquiry vans will pick us up at the Holiday Inn @ 9:00 AM. We will stop at the Lewis and Clark Museum in Great Falls enroute to the put in at Coal Banks landing on the Missouri River. We will camp here tonight.

Day 3- 5/17/07
After breakfast pack up camp, practice canoeing skills, and then start down river. Camp in the rich bottom lands along the river near the Eye of the Needle.

Day 4- 5/18/07
Enjoy the same white cliffs and scenic beauty that Lewis and Clark described as "scenes of visionary enchantment" when they first came through in 1805. Pass Citadel Rock and camp near the Hole in the Wall formation.

Day 5- 5/19/07
Spend most of the day paddling along the banks of the river. Camp at Slaughter River, where Lewis and Clark camped in 1805 on their way west and in 1806 on their return trip. Set up camp, explore the area and read from Lewis and Clark's log.

DAY 6- 5/20/07
Look for big horn sheep along the bluffs as we paddle downstream toward Judith Landing, a historic area for the Blackout tribe, fur traders, and steamboats. Conclude the trip at Judith Landing after lunch. We will board WI's van transport and expect to return to Billings Holiday Inn (cost not included) late that evening where we will have our farewell dinner (on own).

DAY 7- 5/21/07
Travel day. Take Holiday Inn shuttle to Billings’s airport to fly home.
