Tentative Itinerary

Day 1-Friday, July 28, 2006

Arrive Kalispell Airport, Montana.  Transportation to Glacier Park Field Camp (GPFC), included. Dinner and lodging at GPFC, included.

Day 2-Saturday, July 29, 2006

Program: Flora and Fauna of the McDonald Valley.  Hike: John's Lake/Sacred Dancing Cascade Loop, 6 miles with 500 feet elevation gain and loss.  Breakfast, lunch, dinner, lodging at GPFC, included.

Day 3-Sunday, July 30, 2006

Program: Wildlife Discoveries of Lewis and Clark. Hike: Scenic Point Trail, 7 miles with 2,000 feet elevation gain and loss.  Breakfast, lunch, dinner, lodging at GPFC, included.

Day 4-Monday, July 31, 2006

Program: River Ecology by raft on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River.  A float down the river that forms the southern boundary of the Park, with some whitewater near the end.  Stops along the way.  Breakfast, lunch, dinner, lodging at GPFC, included.

Day 5-Tuesday, August 1, 2006

Program: Glacier's Wildflowers Hike: Highline Trail (from Logan Pass, along the Continental Divide) to Haystack Butte, 8 miles with 830 feet of elevation gain and loss.  Breakfast, lunch, dinner, lodging at GPFC, included.

Day 6-Wednesday, August 2, 2006

Breakfast and lunch at GPFC, included.  Leisurely morning with a chance to shop in West Glacier.  Travel the Going to the Sun Road from GPFC, at West Glacier, to Many Glacier, about 3 hours with stops.  Arrive mid afternoon, with time for a short hike in the area.  Dinner on your own in Many Glacier Lodging at Swift Current Cabins, included

Day 7-Thursday, August 3, 2006

Program: Many Glacier Geology. Hike: Ptarmigan Tunnel Trail, 10 miles with 3,000 feet of elevation gain and loss.  All meals on your own.  Lodging at Swift Current Cabins, included.


Day 8-Friday, August 4, 2006

Program: History of Glacier Hike: Iceberg Lake Trail, 9 miles with 1,200 feet of elevation gain & loss.  Travel the Going to the Sun Road back to GPFC, arriving late afternoon.  Breakfast and lunch on your own.  Walk into West Glacier for a farewell dinner at a restaurant, included. Lodging at GPFC, included.

Day 9-Saturday, August 5, 2006

Breakfast at GPFC, included. Transportation to Kalispell Airport, included.  Conclusion of trip.
