1,000,000 acre park straddling the Continental Divide is said by many
to be the most spectacular of our National Parks. It contains one of
the last intact ecosystems in the lower 48 states. All the large
predator and prey animals are still here; bears, wolves, mountain
lions, moose, elk, deer, sheep, goats. This trip is intended to be both a challenging recreational and a unique learning experience. 6 - 10 mile hikes over elevations of 5-8,000 feet will be guided by instructors from the Glacier Institute, a non-profit educational organization based in West Glacier. Each day's hike will feature a different educational subject (wildlife, wildflowers, geology, history, etc.) pertaining to the Park, while giving us the greatest opportunities to view spectacular scenery and wildlife. We will travel the length of the Going to the Sun Highway. Also included is a one day raft trip on the Flathead River. (Tentative Itinerary) Accommodations include six nights at Glacier Institute's Field Camp, near the western entrance to the park, in rustic, dorm-style cabins, and two nights in rustic, 2 person cabins at spectacular Many Glacier, in the heart of the park. Note the registration deadline of March 1, 2006. Don't be disappointed. Register early. This trip will not go if less than 9 are registered by March 1. The maximum is 11. Price of $1125 ($75 nonrefundable) includes: All ground transportation from/to Kalispell, Montana, 8 nights lodging, 6 breakfasts, 5 lunches and 6 dinners, guides, all fees and permits.
