Tentative Itinerary

Day 1-Saturday, July 8, 2006

Arrival.  6:00 PM :Wine and cheese apertif. Welcome, introductions, orientation followed by dinner

Day 2-Sunday, July 9, 2006

Moderate/strenuous hike with Florian, and/or myself the hotel’s  private guide. 5-6 hour hike with wonderful panoramic views to Bergler Lake and return via the Hochwald to Granstein. We will reach 7000ft. with a vertical of approx. 2500 ft.. In the evening, we can visit the Music Festival at the Freizeit Arena with typical Tyrolean Music. (free entrance)

Day 3-Monday, July 10, 2006

Hiking with Florian and /or myself. 6-7 hour moderate- strenuous hike to Schwarz Lake reaching 9900 ft. and vertical climbing of approximately 3000 depending on whether or not we use mountain lifts. Lovely view over the Rettenbach Glacier and the Wildspitze.

Day 4-Tuesday, July 11, 2006

Moderate hiking & Guided tour on the Rettenbach Glacier with mountain guides from Solden.

Day 5-Wednesday, July 12, 2006

A strenuous hike on the Smuggler’s Path with guide Pirpamer Luis. A tough 7 hour hike on the route used by Solden’s first settlers and later by Smugglers to the southern Tyrol. Solden-Windachtal-Siegerland Hutte-Windacher Scharte-Timmelsalpe-Gasthaus Hochfirst-return by bus over the Timmelsjoch.  Highest altitude: approx. 8,600ft.

Day 6-Thursday, July 13, 2006

A strenuous hike of approximately 6-7 hours climbing 3700ft. to the Similaun Hut  located at 10,000 ft.. Overnight stay in the Hut.

Day 7-Friday, July 14, 2006

Hike to the place where "Oetzi, the Iceman" was found, and then hike back to Solden.

Day 8-Saturday, July 15, 2006

A Strenuous hike to one of Solden’s premier Mountain peaks possibly led by Florian and/or myself. 6-8 hour strenuous hike to Laubkar Lake via the Durrnlogele and then to Seekar Lake and on into the Windach Valley. Return to Solden along the cart road.  Highest point 10,000 ft.. Vertical of 3000ft.-5000ft depending on what mountain lifts we use.
