Tentative Itinerary
Day 1-Saturday, July 1, 2006 Bus from Avignon to Eourres, arriving in the afternoon. Staying at Bed and Breakfast. Explore village meeting local people and have welcome meal with the guides. Day 2-Sunday, July 2, 2006 Depart by bus to Brantes. This is a village at the foot of Mount Ventoux. Walk to the top of this famous mountain to get an overall view of the area of our trip. Return to the small village of Brantes in the evening and stay in an auberge with an amazing view of Mount Ventoux.  Day 3-Monday, July 3, 2006 Departure, with donkeys. In the morning there will be a donkey handling course. Etape Brantes (500m) to Montbrun(700m) is an easy, 4-hour, 7.5km walk. Stay overnight in a guest farm and visit of one of the most beautiful villages of France. Day 4-Tuesday, July 4, 2006 Donkey journey from Etape Montbrun(700m) to Revest de Bion(900m) is a 13km, hard days walk. Stay overnight at a horse farm in the middle of the lavender fields. Day 5-Wednesday, July 5, 2006 Day off, with optional visit to a provincial market in Sault. Possibilities for great walks in the area. Stay at the same horse farm. Day 6-Thursday, July 6, 2006 Depart with the donkeys from Etape Revest de Bion (900m) for Le Contadour (1250 m). This another 13km, hard days walk. Le Contadour is a small village with amazing historical monuments. We stay overnight in an old farm house built in "dry stone."  Day 7-Friday, July 7, 2006 The 12 km donkey journey from Etape Le Contadour (1250m) to Montfroc (800m) is an easy and magnficent walk on Montagne de Lure, an immense plateau. There is a visit at an old shephard's building. Overnight stay is at a horse farm. Day 8-Saturday, July 8, 2006 Donkey journey from Etape Montfroc (800m) to Eourres (1000m) is an easy walk to end the trip. Day ends with an excellent meal with the guides. Day 9-Sunday, July 9, 2006 Day off in Eourres with optional visit to the shepard's herd on the top of the mountain or making goat cheese or lavender picking. Day 10-Monday, July 10, 2006 Return to Avignon. Return to Outing Description. |
