| Yellowstone
is our oldest and most famous National Park. Millions of people visit
the park each summer to experience its scenic splendor, geothermal
wonders and spectacular wildlife. But relatively few see this
magnificent park during its quiet time, without the crowds, in winter. This trip will give us that opportunity, with five days of guided backcountry skiing, to explore the park in depth and to see Yellowstone in a way that few people have. Our guide will be renowned wildlife and nature photographer Tom Murphy. Tom is the first person to have skied solo across Yellowstone, and now regularly leads expeditions into the Park, mostly for photographers. But he is eager to share his intimate knowledge of the Park with non-photographers as well, and promises a variety of exciting and unique backcountry experiences. We will ski to waterfalls, open vistas, hidden backcountry valleys, strange geothermal features. We may see wolves, elk, bison, bighorn sheep. We will have 3 days and 2 nights at Old Faithful, deep within the Park (we get there by snowcoach), and 2 days and 3 nights at Gardner, near Mammoth Hot Springs, on the northern edge of the Park. Also one night at a motel in Livingston and one night at a motel in Bozeman. Price of $1345 ($75 nonrefundable) includes: All transportation from Bozeman, MT airport, 7 nights lodging (double occupancy), guide service, fees and farewell dinner. Not included: Airfare, meals (except farewell dinner), ski equipment. Group size is limited 9 participants. You must register by October 1, 2004.
