This
adventure is based in Grindelwald, "The glacier village", located in
the Jungfrau, Bernese Oberland region. This beautiful alpine
flower village is situated in a high mountain valley at 3393ft. and
surrounded by the famous peaks The Eiger(13026'), The Monch(13449') and
The Jungfrau (13642'). We will stay at the 3-star Hotel Derby, 20
steps from the last stop on the narrow gage rail line, and all our
rooms have been reserved to be face to face with The Eiger.
This
will be an easy to moderate hiking trip of 3-10 miles a day with
verticals up to 2000ft. Both easier and more difficult hikes will be
available. The daily hikes will be combined with daily tours
seeking out
the most interesting and beautiful trails, roads, villages,
waterfalls and mountain vistas. We will tour the region by using our
Swiss Travel Pass on mountain bus, rail and steamer as well as mountain
gondola and cable lifts. Besides Grindelwald, we will tour the
villages of Interlaken, Murren, and Kandersteg with the highlight of
the trip ascending by rail and foot the Jungfraujoch at 11,333ft.,
located just below the summit of the Jungfrau.
